When installing a multi-pair network cable (e.g., 8-pair), the wiring method should be selected based on transmission requirements. The following are common methods:
Wiring Standards
T568B Standard
Wire Order: Orange/White, Orange, Green/White, Blue, Blue/White, Green, Brown/White, Brown
For Gigabit networks, all 8 cables are required.
T568A Standard
Wire Order: Green/White, Green, Orange/White, Blue, Blue/White, Orange, Brown/White, Brown
This is typically used for direct connections between devices (e.g., from a network card to a switch).
Installation Steps
Stripping
Use wire strippers to strip the cable jacket, exposing approximately 5 cm of wire.
Grouping: Assemble the 8 pairs of wires into two groups based on color (e.g., white + orange + white + blue in one group, and red + orange + red + blue in the other).
Arrangement and Trimming
Arrange the wires into the slots according to the selected standard (T568A/B), ensuring color matching.
Trim the wire ends to the bottom of the RJ45 connector to prevent loose connections.
Crimping the RJ45 connector
Use crimping pliers to secure the RJ45 connector to the cable core, ensuring all eight wires are in contact.
Testing
After connection, use a cable tester to check if all eight lights are on, indicating a successful connection.
