4/25/2024, Fiber Online News, Lightreading reported that Philippine telecom operator PLDT has plans to provide fiber connections to more newly built homes in the country. As of the end of 2023, PLDT's home broadband division continues to lead the Philippine broadband market with 3.2 million users. In 2023, PLDT's fiber-to-the-home business achieved revenue of US$925 million (Philippine pesos 53 billion), a year-on-year increase of 9%, accounting for 50.6% of the total revenue of the Philippines' FTTH business. In the same year, PLDT's home broadband business contributed US$26 per capita, a year-on-year increase of 11%. At the same time, its user churn rate was 1.8%, lower than the industry average of 2%.

Jeremiah de la Cruz, head of PLDT's home broadband business, said that in 2024 they will accelerate the deployment of fiber in new homes and they will continue to lead the market. By providing fiber connections to more underdeveloped areas, PLDT expects to achieve a wider range of fiber-to-the-home coverage across the country.

In order to better serve different types of customers, in February this year, PLDT launched ultra-high bandwidth broadband services for high-end people. Their latest fiber broadband plans offer bandwidth that is at least 100 times higher than the industry average of 100Mbps. Currently, PLDT's Gigabit, 2.5Gbps, 5Gbps and 10Gbps bandwidths range from $131 to $874 per month. In addition to basic broadband services, the package also includes Wi-Fi6 Mesh networking, IPTV, network security and other services.

As of the end of September 2023, PLDT has 1.1 million kilometers of optical cables, including 200,000 international lines. Next year, the 12,000-kilometer Apricot submarine cable in which PLDT is involved will also be completed. The submarine cable connects the Philippines to Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Guam。
