Speaker cables are generally not recommended to be used as 220V power cables.
Although both speaker cables and power cables are wires, and in theory they can build effective circuits for power transmission, there are significant differences between the two in terms of function, property indicators, and design purposes. The purpose of power cables is to transmit power. During design and production, the process, materials, structure, etc. are all designed around this purpose, and insulation treatment is done. The speaker cable is responsible for transmitting audio signals in the audio system. It has low resistance and very little transmission loss for audio, but it cannot guarantee the distortion index required by the power system, and the joint process is difficult to meet the requirements of the power system.
In addition, the voltage standard of the speaker cable is usually low, most of which are only a few dozen V, while the insulation layer withstand voltage standard of the 220V power cable is usually at least 250V. Therefore, if the speaker cable is used as a 220V power cable for a long time, the insulation layer may break down, causing safety hazards such as fire.
