1. Mandatory requirements for EU market access
Regulatory compliance: CPR certification is part of the EU CE certification. Since July 2017, all communication cables (such as network cables, optical fibers, etc.) sold in the EU must pass CPR certification and be marked with fire protection levels (Euroclass), otherwise they shall not be put on the market.
Scope of application: Covers cables fixedly installed in buildings (such as building wiring, internal wiring in data centers), not applicable to temporary connecting cables (such as jumpers).
2. Fire safety performance classification
CPR certification is divided into multiple levels (Euroclass) according to the combustion characteristics of cables, from high to low, including:
A/B1/B2 level: extremely strong flame retardancy, extremely low smoke and toxicity (such as mineral insulated cables).
C/D level: medium flame retardancy (most commercial network cables belong to this category).
E/F level: basic flame retardancy (used in low-requirement scenarios).
